Long and Lean....

We had Cole's four month appointment last Monday and we are happy to report that he is growing at a very steady rate according to his Doctor! He is in the 25th percentile for weight (13lbs. 8 oz.) and the 75th percentile for height. Daddy thinks he's on his way to being 6' 5"!!! Although we had a great appointment, the acid reflux that has plagued our little guy for several months now appears to be getting worse! Cole is normally a pretty happy camper (unless he is tired or hungry) but we were noticing him being more irritable/fussy, arching his back, not sleeping well, and spitting up TONS (as if he didn't spit up a lot before!). We were about to make a call to the Dr. when before we could do that we got a call to come get him at daycare on Friday b/c he was inconsolable - not like our little man so we were very concerned and off we marched him to the Dr. In true Cole form, he was giggly and smiley at the Doctor's office (making us feel like liars - although earlier in the week at the Dr. she got to see the reflux symptoms full force!). We were given a prescription for a new medicine (and Mommy was put on a dairy free diet!) and also a referral for the pediatric gastoenterology department at Hasbro Children's Hospital. We were told it could take a few weeks to get an appointment but (thanks to lots of prayers) - when we called they had a cancellation on Monday. So on Monday we are off to Hasbro to hopefully find some answers for our little guy. We love hearing him giggle and flash us those dimples so we hope we can figure this out for him!

On top of all of this, we happen to be going through the dreaded four month wakeful - SLEEP REGRESSION! While Cole has never consistently slept through the night, he has really only ever gotten up once a night since he was born. We thought we were on a pretty good schedule of 7pm - bedtime, 2:30 or 3:30 am - wake up to eat and back to bed, 6:00 am - up for the day. That schedule is history - we are now up three to four times a night - either hungry or just wanting to play. We are trying to see the positive in this which means that Cole is developing cognitive skills that are allowing him to realize that people, toys, food, and fun exists (and that sleep maybe isn't the most fun thing to do!) We are praying that he will return to his old sleep habits so that his Mommy and Daddy can get some sleep - until then - caffeine, caffeine, caffeine!!!

Here are some recent pictures!

Loves tubby time - except he HATES the getting out part!!!
